Three Hershey students attended the annual Women in Science Conference in Lincoln March 31-April 1.
While attending the conference, students had the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers Dr. Athena Ramos, the associate professor of the Department of Health Promotion at UNMC, and Dr. Eileen Hebets, a professor with the School of Biological Sciences at UNL.
Students also had the opportunity to engage in workshops and labs. One workshop challenged groups to construct a structure that would support a baby with Osteogenesis imperfecta, or brittle bone disease. To be considered successful, the structure needed to support the weight of three books; the structure our students built supported the weight of one of the students themselves!
The conference was held at UNL and gave students the opportunity to tour the campus buildings and meet with panels of UNL undergraduate students to discuss majors and available opportunities.
