Jim and Shirley Nisley, longstanding members of Elks Lodge #985 in North Platte, NE, have been tirelessly committed to enhancing the educational opportunities for students throughout Lincoln County. In an inspiring display of dedication, they recently marked their 20th year of delivering dictionaries to 3rd-grade students in both public and private schools, expanding their mission to include Stapleton and Tryon schools. Over the past two decades, they have distributed an impressive total of 9,480 dictionaries to eager young learners.
Jim Nisley was moved to take action when he discovered that one of the local schools lacked sufficient dictionaries to provide every student with this fundamental tool for learning. The Elks National Foundation, through its grants and programs, empowers Elks Lodges across America to make a lasting impact on the lives of students and their families. The organization's dedication to literacy extends to multiple areas of support for students and families, encompassing a wide array of academic and vocational scholarship opportunities.
