Hershey students were able to take part in the Golden Sower Battle of the Books. Hershey took two teams: Chapter Books (Honeybee Level) and Novels (Meadowlark Level). This year there were ten books in each category and these students took time after school to discuss what they have read about, discuss genres, how to eliminate some answer choices based on genres as well, and why we would choose/not choose to read specific books. Taking part were eight area schools: Paxton, Wallace, Maxwell, Perkins County, Sutherland, Brady, Hyannis, and Hershey. We had a great time with other students, playing reverse charades, participating in a photo scavenger hunt, internet safety, and a relay race with a representative from the US Army. Students were invited based on the total number of AR points that they had earned so far in the school year and to read as many of the nominees as possible.
Honeybees: Alec Simonson, Leo Deaver, Owen Colvin, Rex Siegel, Tate Wray
Meadowlarks: Aiden Rousey, Conner Nickels, Jaxen Parker, Kole Norquest, Lane Tyan
A huge thank you to ESU 16 for putting on the Battle of the books and to Sutherland Public School for hosting..
