Thanks to the dedication and initiative of Mrs. Alexis Allan, a 4th-grade teacher at our school, students in grades 3-6 will now have access to a wide range of engaging books. Mrs. Allan applied for and received a grant through DonorsChoose, with generous contributions from family, friends, and a large anonymous donor from Omaha.

The grant has allowed the purchase of multiple copy book sets for about 25 different titles, including several award-winning favorites. Among the exciting new additions are The One and Only Ivan, A Wrinkle in Time, The Wild Robot, Flora and Ulysses, When Stars Are Scattered, and The Phantom Tollbooth. These books will be available for teacher check-out in the school library and are intended for use in literature circles and small group reading sessions. The collection will enable teachers to differentiate their instruction, supporting students' needs, interests, and varying reading levels.

Mrs. Allan's efforts will help spread the love of reading throughout our school. By facilitating book club conversations, students will not only improve their reading skills but also develop a lifelong passion for literature.

We commend Mrs. Allan for her commitment to enhancing our students' learning experiences and providing them with the tools to succeed. Her work is a testament to the positive impact educators can have on their students’ lives. Mrs. Allan also plans to write more grants in the future to further expand our multiple copy book set collection.
