The Hershey High School speech team has been making waves in recent competitions, showcasing their talent and dedication across multiple events over the past three weeks! Competing at the Broken Bow Invite, Perkins County Invite, and Gothenburg Invite, the Panthers have brought home several medals and demonstrated their competitive edge against some tough district and conference opponents.

Broken Bow Invitational

Despite sending only four competitors, Hershey made a strong showing:

  • Sophie Winter

    • 4th in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking

  • Lillian Fuchser

    • 4th in Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking and 6th in Varsity Informative Speaking

  • Livia Jones

    • 5th in Novice Program Oral Interpretation (POI) and 2nd in Novice Serious Prose

  • Maddi Findley

    • 8th in Varsity Serious Prose

Perkins County Invitational

Hershey faced tough competition against larger Class A and B schools but still secured a 7th place team finish out of 15 schools. Individual results included:

  • Maddi Findley

    • 6th in Serious Prose

  • Lillian Fuchser

    • 6th in Extemporaneous Speaking and 6th in Informative Speaking

  • Katie Abbott

    • 4th in Humorous Prose

  • Rhett Edelman

    • 5th in Humorous Prose

  • Aubrie Martino-Zogg, Katie Abbott, and Rhett Edelman

    • 5th in Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID)

Gothenburg Invitational

The Panthers competed in an incredibly challenging meet, placing 6th out of 29 teams, and their perseverance paid off:

    • 1st in Novice Serious Prose and 2nd in Novice POI

  • Rachel Simonson

    • 2nd in Novice Serious Prose

  • Rhett Edelman

    • 7th in Varsity Humorous Prose

  • Ella Duckworth

    • 5th in Novice POI

With strong performances across multiple events, the Hershey speech team continues to build momentum as they prepare for upcoming competitions. Their success so far highlights the hard work and dedication of both the students and their coaches.
