Hershey Public Schools is proud to announce that Ashley Johanson, a dedicated and passionate first-grade teacher, has been voted the Hershey Public Schools Education Foundation (HPSEF) February Staff Member of the Month! This well-deserved recognition comes from HPS parents, stakeholders, and colleagues who appreciate her commitment to education and the positive impact she makes every day in the lives of her students.

A Passion for Teaching

With an impressive 21 years of teaching experience, Mrs. Johanson has spent her entire career shaping young minds right here at Hershey Public Schools. Teaching first grade has been her lifelong passion, and she truly cherishes the joy and excitement that comes with working with her students.

Mrs. Johanson holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education from Chadron State College. Her love for teaching started when she was young, and she has never wavered in her dedication to fostering a love of learning in her students.

Building Meaningful Connections

One of Mrs. Johanson’s greatest strengths is her ability to build strong relationships with her students. She believes that forming meaningful connections not only enhances classroom management but also makes a lasting impact on her students’ learning experiences. She treats each student with care and respect, making them feel valued and heard.

Her favorite moments as a teacher? Hearing a child say they love coming to school. For her, that is the greatest reward.

A Valued Team Member

Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Johanson is an incredible colleague who uplifts and supports her fellow teachers. She believes in the power of teamwork, appreciating the camaraderie and collaboration among the staff at Hershey Public Schools. “I truly appreciate my colleagues and feel we bring out the best in each other,” she shares.

Life Beyond the Classroom

Mrs. Johanson is not only an outstanding educator but also a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband, Cory, have three wonderful children: Cash, Karlee, and Kyson. Outside of school, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, embracing life’s moments to the fullest.

A Humbling Honor

When she learned that she had been named HPSEF February Staff Member of the Month, Mrs. Johanson was both humbled and surprised. “I am sincerely honored as I teach with a team of wonderful teachers,” she says. For her, this recognition is not just a personal achievement but a reflection of the incredible school community she is a part of.
