Throughout April, the halls of our elementary building have been filled with excitement and curiosity as Hershey High School Spanish IV students visited classrooms to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the Spanish language.
Under the guidance of their teacher, Mrs. Bottom, the Spanish IV students thoughtfully designed interactive lessons specifically tailored to elementary learners from Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through sixth grade. Each lesson was created with careful consideration of age-appropriate activities and vocabulary.
Our youngest Panthers in TK through 2nd grade eagerly engaged in lessons that introduced them to colors, numbers, and animals in Spanish. Through vibrant visuals, songs, and engaging activities, these young learners delighted in practicing their new Spanish words and expressions.
Students in grades 3 through 6 experienced immersive lessons focused on high-frequency Spanish verbs, enriched by engaging stories told entirely in Spanish. After listening to these captivating tales, students reinforced their new vocabulary by playing interactive games designed by their Spanish IV mentors.
The collaborative experience not only provided our elementary students with a joyful introduction to the Spanish language but also allowed high school students an opportunity to showcase their teaching skills and leadership abilities.
We thank our Spanish IV students and Mrs. Bottom for their hard work and creativity, and we look forward to seeing this meaningful collaboration continue to grow and flourish in the years ahead!
