April 2021
Dear Parent,
April 27-May 7, your child will be taking MAP® Growth™ tests from NWEA®. MAP Growth scores help teachers check student performance by measuring academic achievement and growth. These results are used to tailor classroom lessons and set goals for students.
MAP Growth tests are unique and adapt to your child’s responses to measure content proficiency. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier and continues to adjust according to responses. These results provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn. Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information, it’s easier for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.
MAP Growth reports also provide typical growth data for students who are in the same grade, subject and have the same starting performance level. This school year, students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd will take tests in math and reading. Students in grades 3rd-6th will take tests in math, language arts, reading, and science.
Your child's teacher has visit with them about the upcoming tests and have set goals for their upcoming spring testing window. We are excited to see their amount of growth!
Please ensure that your child gets an ample, normal amount of sleep the night before the test, eats a nutritious and filling breakfast, and arrives at school on time. If you are unsure what dates your child will be testing, please reach out to the classroom teacher.
Educationally,
