Dear 5th Grade and New 6th Grade Band Parents/Guardians,
Greetings from the Hershey Public Schools Band Program! This letter is to invite students who have not participated in band before to an informational meeting about beginning band. The meeting will include a Beginning Band Instrument Display (sponsored by Yanda’s Music and Pro Audio) and an informational meeting led by Mrs. Brittenham about Beginning Level Band. Some of you may be “veteran” band parents, as I may be teaching one of your older children in the Jr./Sr. High, while many others are new to the “band universe”. Either way, all of you are welcome to attend this meeting!
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 31st at 5:30 pm in the band room. Informational items that will be covered are renting or purchasing information, instrument care and maintenance, classroom activities, band books, Mrs. Brittenham’s Band Buck$ program, and much, much more! Until then, during band class, students will learn all about the band instruments and have an opportunity to try out a few of their top choices in class.
Please plan to bring a list of questions you may have. Also, if you have an instrument at home you think your child may play, you may bring it as well so we may take a look at it to make sure it’s in playing condition. If you are unable to attend, let me know (my contact information is below) and we can make alternative arrangements for you and your student to have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
Thank you for the opportunity for me to work with your child. I am always so excited to teach beginning band because it’s a new experience for all the students and their enthusiasm is fun to nurture! I know we’ll have a great year of music making!
