Hershey Public Schools competed for the first time in our ESU’s Battle of the Books competition. The participating 4th, 5th, and 7th grade students spent many, many hours preparing by reading the Nebraska Golden Sower nominee chapter books. They had weekly practices in which they shared what they read and practiced trivia questions over the books.
At the Battle of the Books, the students competed against teams from six other area schools. The competition was incredibly close! The winners were decided by fractions of a second difference. Our 4th & 5th grade team and our 7th grade team both placed second.
The students also participated in fun activities throughout the day. There was a photo scavenger hunt and vocabulary bingo. Much fun was had by all in attendance. A special thanks to Mrs. Mandy Abbott, our Elementary Librarian, for all of her time and commitment in organizing this event! Please check out several pictures from the day here!
